Johnson County First Amendment Foundation

The mission of the Johnson County First Amendment Foundation is to promote a better understanding among Kansas students, particularly in Johnson County, of First Amendment and other Constitutional rights that ensure a free society’s freedom to write, freedom to publish and freedom to read.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

News from Sandra Day O’Connor

It is with heavy hearts that we share a recent letter from former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.  In 2013, Justice O’Connor spoke at the first speaker event hosted by the Foundation. Her commitment and passion for civic engagement inspired the hundreds of attendees at the event.  While Justice O’Connor steps back from public life to focus on her health, the Foundation would like to thank Justice O’Connor for her years of service on and off the bench and will strive to continue her work in promoting the education of our youth on the Constitution, government, and civic engagement.
